Footy legend Don Scott says he’s suffering from depression as a result of the state’s ongoing lockdown.

Scott, 73, said he’s noticed a difference in his demeanour and wellbeing.

“I’ve spoken to a couple of people who are in the same boat … I’m very frustrated because you’ve got no control and I just wonder how many other people are going through this.

“You just put one foot in front of the other and you just keep going and you hope like hell it changes.”

Speaking with Sam Newman on his You Cannot Be Serious podcast, Scott added: “Can’t go anywhere so you sit at home and these guys have got a job. All these people making these decisions are mentally stimulated. It’s wrong what’s happening in this state. I would have isolated those areas within our communities so the rest of us can keep going.”

Scott has had a rough few months, copping nine stitches above his eye after an accident while getting into his car last month.

He also had a stent inserted in his chest for a blocked artery in May.

Newman offered the details for Lifeline and touched on the mental health toll.

“There’s been an increase in suicide in particular in young girls and this is the hidden effect of probably the most stringent and irresponsible thing a government can do — is make a blanket lockdown without any regard to anything that’s going on just because you are running a dictatorial government that is so corrupt and so dishonest that they have no regard,’’ Newman said.

“Because they’re all right, they’re all still getting paid $10-$12,000s a week but not worried about anyone else who has lost a job.

“We have in Dan Andrews, the Joe Biden of America. Those two, other than their school achievements, have accomplished nothing at all ever. And they’re telling us how to run our lives with no consequence at all. They are making it up as they go.”
