He’s locked in to join Gold FM, but dumped Today show presenter Alex Cullen could also land another surprise role when he makes the move to Melbourne.

Ex-Today show sports presenter Alex Cullen might have announced his new gig on radio on Melbourne’s Gold FM, but word is TV is still in the mix for the experienced reporter.

It has long been rumoured that Channel 7 was keen to snap up the former 9 identity who left Today in January after it was revealed he had accepted a $50,000 ‘prize’ from Adrian Portelli for calling him McLaren Guy not Lambo Guy on live television.

Cullen was later linked to 7’s proposed new afternoon news show.

While there has been no further word on that show, it would seem odd for Cullen to move his family from Sydney to Melbourne, as he has said he will do, to just do radio.

He announced on Thursday he would be joining The Christian O’Connell Show on Gold FM as its sports guru in July. It would not surprise if he also picks up a TV job based out of Melbourne.
