The hotly anticipated Melbourne radio debut of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O has been delayed.
The powerhouse breakfast duo, who signed a staggering $200m 10-year contract extension with ARN in November, are due back on air on Monday in Sydney.
But a date has yet to be confirmed for their expansion to the Melbourne airwaves, with KIIS FM saying that The Kyle and Jackie O Show “is coming very soon”.
Since November’s announcement of the syndicated program, there has been much debate on whether the move to replace the Melbourne show, helmed by Jase Hawkins and Lauren Phillips, would work.
Most radio shows are returning Monday, including Marty Sheargold on Triple M, FOX FM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick and 3AW’s Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft.
On KIIS FM, workday announcer Byron Cooke will assume breakfast hosting duties.
“Think of KIIS 101.1 as a footy team and Kyle and Jackie O are our star players,’’ Cooke said.
“I’m coming on as the emergency sub in that ridiculous yellow vest. I’ll give it a red-hot crack and then the inevitable will happen – I’m sent back to the VFL.”
