Dannii Minogue’s deep and spiritual energy has been captured in a striking portrait for the Archibald Prize.
The Melbourne pop icon agreed to sit down for artist Nunzio Miano with the finished painting revealed by the Herald Sun.
“I loved the creative process and I’m thrilled with the end result,’’ Minogue said.
“Nunzio has really captured my energy and those eyes … wow, it’s like staring in a mirror.”
Miano said it was an honour to work with Minogue.
“I described it as the stars aligning,’’ he said.
“We became friends over the years through fashion and she emanates this energy and she’s someone I admire and Australia loves. I always say she is Australian royalty and she’s part of our fabric.”
It took Miano five months to paint and Minogue stayed involved throughout the process.
Miano, who was academically trained in Melbourne and London many years ago, has only been exhibiting commercially in the last five years.
He will head to Florence in a few months to do an artist residency for six weeks.
There are over 2000 entries for the Archibald Prize with the winner announced next month.
