Collingwood president Eddie McGuire is falling in love with Mason Cox
Eddie McGuire says he is falling in love with Mason Cox ... and the Collingwood giant doesn’t mind Ed either. The Magpies’ president and Texan star opened up about their special relationship in an exclusive Q&A for Cox’s guest edit of Confidential.

Eddie McGuire says he is falling in love with the Magpies Texan star Mason Cox.
In an exclusive Q&A for Cox’s guest edit of Confidential, the Collingwood president described Cox as “intelligent” and a “great individual”.
McGuire detailed his first impressions of the 28 year-old and how that’s changed.
“You are really big, you look like an American college student,’’ McGuire said.
“And you have an interesting American accent and if you turn out to be half as good a player as (recruiting manager) Derek Hine tells me you could be, I might just fall in love with you.”
McGuire continued: “I am falling in love with you. And you are an even better person than we could have hoped for. A wonderful addition to our club in many ways.”
Cox revealed McGuire had invited him over for Christmas dinner when he first moved to Melbourne.
“He’s always looked after me. I’ve got a bit of a soft spot in my heart for that man,’’ Cox said.
In a wide ranging special, Cox also reveals he enjoys being sledged and is still amazed by seeing American flags in the crowd.
“I actually play better when people talk s... to me,’’ he said.
“The best one I’ve been called is a retarded giraffe chasing a butterfly out on the field. And I was like, yeah that’s a fair call.

“The best way to shut them up is just to play well.
“I’m pretty fortunate with the support I’ve had but it is a unique and crazy story.”
Cox will appear on Fox Footy’s AFL360 tomorrow night as part of Player Takeover Round.
