Did GOLD FM host Christian O’Connell leak the new Triple M breakfast line up?
O’Connell curiously tweeted on Wednesday following news that Eddie McGuire and Luke Darcy would depart on November 27 after 11 years.
He then deleted the tweet congratulating former Nova drive host Marty Sheargold.
He also cryptically mentioned Fifi Box, Sheargold’s former co-host from 2003 to 2008 when they co-hosted Triple M’s The Shebang with later a third host, Paul Murray.
“Congratulations to the new host of @TripleMMelb Hot Breakfast. The great @Marty—Sheargold. Been a big fan of this real radio and comedy legend from afar since Fifi and Marty. See you in the morning Marty, lets carpool."
In September the Herald Sun revealed that Sheargold was in the frame to join Triple M following strong industry speculation. It was denied at the time but would appear to be spot on now.
Triple M have chosen the new hosts but are waiting until after McGuire and Darcy’s departure to respectfully make the next announcement.
