THE glamour and fun-filled party vibe of Malibu is the inspiration for this year’s Caulfield Cup Carnival.

On the back of the successful collaboration with Hollywood hotspot EP&LP last season, the Melbourne Racing Club will bring the cool Malibu beach aesthetic to Melbourne, complete with trackside pool party.

MRC chief commercial officer Peta Webster says unlike last year, where only guests in the exclusive Heath Enclosure were able to enjoy the Hollywood experience, the new theme will be accessible in all areas of the track.

“Caulfield’s modern-day approach to racing is literally turning racing on its head to make way for a new style of race day, which is socially accessible, sophisticated and a whole lot of fun,” she says.

“One of the elements we will be bringing is the wonderful pool trackside. We want to make sure the general public have just as good an experience as the corporates. It’s part of our vision to elevate Caulfield.

“Our attendance was up last year right across the Caulfield Cup Carnival and these additional precincts and activations we will be introducing should continue to attract new people to racing.”

Apart from the pool, another precinct that will take inspiration from the idyllic beachside location will be The Caulfield Lounge presented by David Jones, designed to reflect the understated elegance of Malibu’s Soho House.

Aussie Victoria’s Secret model Victoria Lee is thrilled to be attending her first Caulfield Cup as a David Jones ambassador.

“I’m really excited, I just can’t wait to be there and be a part of the atmosphere,” she says.

In Malibu to celebrate the launch of the theme, Lee says she thinks the iconic coastal town is the ideal inspiration to elevate the racing experience to another level.

“I think it’s the laid back but elegant, beautiful lifestyle. It’s the vibe of the outdoors and warmer weather and happy times,’ she says.

Stella Artois last week became the naming rights sponsor for the 2018 Caulfield Cup Carnival, including the $3.15 million Caulfield Cup, replacing BMW.

The MRC will officially launch the new season and the opening of early-bird ticket sales at a VIP lunch in Malibu on Wednesday.

Guests at the glamour Nobu Malibu lunch will include 11-time Group 1 winning Australian jockey Mark Zahra and USA Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens, Aussie actresses Kassandra Clementi and Tammin Sursock, models Nat Darcus and Natalie Roser, and TV presenters Darren McMullen and Jason Dundas.
