Radio host Neil Mitchell is still in the dark about his increasing political feud with Premier Daniel Andrews and now his wife Catherine.
Andrews hasn’t appeared on the 3AW broadcaster’s program for four years, with Mrs Andrews blocking Mitchell and his producer Heidi Murphy on Twitter.
“I’ve been banned by him, he won’t talk to me,’’ Mitchell said.
“I’ve had various politicians from both sides over the years who have banned me from interviews going back to Bob Hawke, Julie Bishop for a while, Julia Gillard, Scott Morrison banned me briefly before he was Prime Minister. But I’ve never had a partner block me on Twitter before.”
Mitchell said he had no idea why Mrs Andrews had taken the drastic step, revealed in The Australian by The Diary on Monday, but she was entitled to do what she wanted.
“Is it a real account? They’ve got a whole team sitting in there that we pay for pretending to be things they aren’t and sending messages out on Twitter,’’ Mitchell said.
“I think it is her but maybe she doesn’t even know it’s some 20 year-old sitting in Dan’s office. Maybe it’s a Cathbot.
“She tweeted today she’s going to keep cutting his hair and I thought that’s riveting.
“Now that everyone knows I’m blocked by her they keep sending me her tweets.
“Maybe I’ll go into deep mediation for a week to cope with the fact Catherine has banned me.”
Mitchell said it was all a bit juvenile.
“It is a bit silly but she’s not an elected official and she’s entitled to do what she wants,’’ he said.
“I’ve blocked people who are obscene or threatening or just trolling me. I haven’t done any of those things, I don’t think I would have replied to anything she’s ever done.
“She better stay out of politics if she’s that sensitive.”
Mitchell said it had been suggested he “get on the beers” with Andrews to sort it out, but he’s still waiting for a reply to the well wishing text he sent the Premier when he injured his back.
“It’s over a year since I spoke to Brett Sutton — in the middle of the Dan Pandemic they’ve banned me,’’ Mitchell said.
“Marty Pakula is about the only Minister who talks to me.
“Dan today went off and talked to Today, Sunrise, ABC TV breakfast, so he talked to a lot of people in Sydney but he wouldn’t talk to my audience which is the largest morning radio audience.”
