The former Collingwood coach felt ill, then collapsed and needed emergency medical attention.

He was flanked by campmates Poh Ling Yeow and Maria Thattil when he hit the ground, with most of the cast shocked and in tears afterward.

“That was solid, I’ve never fainted before so that was full on,’’ Buckley said.

“I had cramps in my gut then it just got bad. I could not get comfortable. The pain was building and building and I was sweating bullets. What it is, it’s low blood sugar, which is standard for me. Light heart rate, which is standard for me. I get a bit of lightheadedness when I get up quickly even in my normal life.

“And then because I got cramps then that brings your heart rate down again and then it gets to a point where you’ve gone under the threshold.”

Buckley couldn’t recall what happened but after 20 minutes with medical staff he returned, saying he felt “cherry ripe”.

“That was scary to see, he’s such a big tough guy,’’ Thattil said. “He’s always looking after all of us.”

Emily Seebohm called him the group’s ‘dad’.

“You can see how much Nathan means to this camp. He looks after everyone,’’ she said.

It comes after a busy week for Buckley, who also revealed his bizarre encounter with party girl Paris Hilton when she came to his house for a barbecue.

Buckley said the pair only shared one brief exchange while she was in town to attend the races, which was in 2003.

“Paris Hilton came to mine for a barbecue one day,’’ Buckley said.

“And Rob Mills (her reported fling at the time) waited out the front.

“(My ex-wife) Tania had a shoe store and she was getting a little bit of publicity through it and part of it was Paris Hilton. So she sort of gave her a couple of pairs of shoes for the Spring Carnival.

“And in the end she ended coming up to our place for a barbecue. This is the conversation I had with her, she came up to me with a full plate of food in my house — (and said) fork.

“I said sorry, she said ‘fork’. I said just over there, where the knives and forks are, and then she just walked away and that was the only interaction I had with her.”

Also on Wednesday night’s episode of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! Buckley opened up on racism and Eddie McGuire, saying there’s still “a lot of work to do” when it comes to racism in sport.

The former coach and player weighed in on the exit of former club president McGuire, which followed the release of the “Do Better” report early last year.

“I think there’s a lot of work to do in racism across the board, not just in sport,’’ he said.

“There’s plenty of people responsible for it and there’s a lot of work to be done.”

Buckley opened up on McGuire and the racism issue during a frank discussion with campmates Beau Ryan, Emily Seebohm and David Subritzky.

“I think if you take the love or hate to the nth, I think Ed embodies love or hated,’’ he said.

“He loves the club, he’d make great gain, he’d put his foot in his mouth a couple times around a racism issue. Adam Goodes a bit earlier but then what ultimately was his undoing was a press conference.

“The ‘Do Better’ report was around our soiled history around indigenous affairs largely.

“There’s still plenty of improvement but what we were doing was we were somewhat owning our errors and trying to draw a line and say we don’t want to be our past anymore.

“For the first time we own and accept it and that’s why the word ‘proud’ was a really difficult word for indigenous people to hear.

“You’ve just got to own your stuff and part of that systemic racism is actually not diminishing, not sweeping aside, not being defensive.”
