Billy Brownless has revealed what he really thought of the show I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! as he reflected on his time in the jungle earlier this year.

The Footy Show star used to think it was for “di--heads” and “B grade celebrities” before he weighed up the benefits.

“The jungle came out of nowhere to be honest,’’ he told Sam Newman and Don Scott on their You Cannot Be Serious podcast.

“I used to watch those shows and think look at those di--heads on telly.

“My management rang me and said Bill they want you to go into the jungle, it might be good for you. You might get off the p... for a while, you lose some weight and the money is quite good.

“I said bull... I can’t watch those shows, those B grade celebrities walking around and all that.

“They called back and said have a think about it, it might be good for you.”

Brownless said conditions were as tough as they looked on television and despite going home earlier than he’d hoped, was glad he did it.

“It wasn’t out the back of Tarneit, we had to actually fly to Africa, went to Johannesburg and then got in another plane and flew an hour there to another park. Then we’d have to travel by bus from the airport,’’ he said.

“It was really deep dark African jungle. Fair dinkum. And what you saw on the show was what you got. We had a campfire, we slept on army style beds.

“You had a sleeping bag. You didn’t eat, you ate whatever was on the show. I hear stories about Warnie getting pizzas delivered but there was none of that. It was bloody boring because you had nothing to do.”

Brownless said he enjoyed his time most with Dale Thomas and Rhonda Burchmore.

“Daisy Thomas who’s a good fella. Rhonda, red hot Rhonda, Rhonda Burchmore was a beauty. We thought she’d be prim and proper and then she did the old pull my finger and farted. It was fantastic. That got her into the group, she was fantastic,” he said.

“We had a good time. I got voted third one out, I thought I might have stayed longer to be honest but I got the arse pretty quick.

“I didn’t like that Perez Hilton. Who came in late and he does write stuff about celebs... he just didn’t fit in. And I didn’t get on with a couple of the younger girls in the camp because we were different eras.

“It was good fun. I’m glad I did it because it got you out of your bubble and it was good to do.”
