Crown is set to step up its presence at Melbourne’s famed Spring Carnival and help raise much needed funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

The Herald Sun can reveal Crown will on Tuesday be announced as the new naming rights sponsor for two of the biggest race days on the Australian racing calendar.

Crown will take over the reins as major sponsor of Oaks Day and Makybe Diva Stakes Day, stamping its name on the third pillar of the Melbourne Cup Carnival and September 14’s $750,000 Group One race.

It will also announce model and influencer Bec Judd will be a Crown ambassador, trackside at the events.

“The Melbourne Cup Carnival is the highlight of the social calendar every Spring, and I can’t wait to attend this year’s event with Crown,’’ Judd said.

“It’s the event that truly kicks off the warmer weather.

“I am looking forward to spending time with my friends watching the Group One races, seeing the beautiful fashions, and then heading back to Crown to continue the celebrations.’’

Crown’s deal with the Victoria Racing Club will see The Good Friday Appeal become the inaugural community partner for Oaks Day, allowing tens of thousands of people who pack Flemington to support sick kids and their families.

Crown Melbourne chief executive Mike Volkert said: “We look forward to rejoining this year’s Birdcage and elevating Crown Oaks Day, as we continue to grow our relationship with the VRC and the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

“This partnership underscores our commitment to supporting leading entertainment and sporting events that Melbourne is known for.

“We look forward to welcoming our guests at Flemington, and at Crown Melbourne as the resort comes to life as the home away from the track.”

VRC chairman Neil Wilson said the deal would lift the on-track experience.

“This partnership embodies the shared commitment of both organisations to deliver unparalleled experiences to patrons while showcasing the very best of Australian racing, entertainment and hospitality,” he said.

The lucrative deal means there will this year be Crown Oaks Day, Crown Oaks, Crown Makybe Diva Stakes, Victoria Racing Club Spring Gala presented by Crown and Crown Oaks Club Lunch, both held at Crown Palladium.
