Sam Stosur doubts we will see any international tennis this year.

The Australian tennis veteran has been training at home in Melbourne during the lockdown.

She said she is still optimistic for the Australian Open in January, but is putting her hopes in a domestic competition.

“I have my doubts that we’re going to play at all internationally,’’ Stosur said.

“There’s so many things that are out there to travel the world. Different countries, cross borders, there are so many moving parts to it. I struggle to see that we’re going to be playing.

“But I’m very hopeful there’s going to be some domestic league or competition that Australia will put together.

“Hopefully that can get up and running in a few weeks time and we can play and compete against each other.”

Stosur has filmed her movements in isolation for a new campaign for youth mental health Foundation headspace and the Australasian College for Sport and Exercise Physicians.

She has been part of it along with other athletes, Adam Goodes, Tayla Harris and Alyssa Healy.

“You can look at different parts of this in a positive or a negative way,’’ Stosur, 36, said.

“It is a good chance to refresh and it’s always a race, that I’ve got to get healthy, and there’s none of those things at the moment because we’re all in the same boat.

“No doubt mental health is going to be a huge issue and this campaign to keep moving is really important to show mental health and exercise are correlated. We’ve had a big advantage compared to a lot of places around the world that we’ve been able to go outside and exercise.”
