“I’m one of those people who has their phone in their hand the whole time. Every spare second I’m scrolling through Twitter or Facebook or Instagram or WhatsApp. It’s just crap. I’ve gotta get off social media basically,” Dave Hughes says.

Hughesy has just finished a run at Adelaide Fringe where he earned a 4.5 star review in The Advertiser for his show The Snorkeler.

“Then I went to do this gig in Hobart and I couldn’t find my phone so I’m frantically running around the house and I ended up going to Hobart without my phone ... and I slept so much better.

“It f---ing ridiculous, it’s a smart phone.” It’s smarter than us because it’s won.

“Exactly. I’ve got an Apple Watch. I can’t look at the internet on that. You can text me and I can make a phone call — not a great one — I can receive calls. F---, you can get your laptop if you need the internet.”

Hughesy is a man in demand with his Hughesy We Have a Problem program on Channel 10 getting a second season.

His show Hughesy and Kate is doing well on Fox FM and he wants to weigh in on Langbroek’s recent brush with a dangerous drug addict.

“She’s not a Johnny-come-lately, she’s been in St Kilda for 25 years. Every day people who live in St Kilda have been congratulating her for helping out (getting the Boarding House shut down). People are living in fear around there. She had to try and fight a crazed guy from entering her home and stopping a crazed guy terrorising her children.

“She’s not going to listen to people who have no idea what they’re talking about.”
