What King Charles said after protester threw eggs at him and Camilla

A lip reader has revealed what King Charles said after eggs were lobbed at him during a public appearance this week.

King and Queen Consort egged in England

King Charles stoically said “it’s fine, let’s carry on” after eggs were thrown at him this week, a lip reader has claimed.

On Wednesday four eggs were lobbed at the King, who barely flinched, during a public appearance in England.

The monarch first said “pleased to meet you” to a woman in the crowd as he carried on shaking hands, lip reader Jeremy Freeman suggested, The Sun reports.

He then turned to a woman in military uniform and said to carry on before asking a protection officer: “Everything alright?”

Jeremy told The Mirror he thinks the protection officer told His Majesty: “He’s been taken care of.”

The protester, identified as Extinction Rebellion gardener Patrick Thelwell, was immediately bundled to the ground as the crowd yelled “shame on you” at him and “God save the King”.

North Yorkshire Police released him on bail the next day.

The eggs were seen whizzing past the King, a celebrated environmentalist, as he met with members of the public during a visit to the area with Queen Camilla.

All the eggs failed to hit the King but one landed near him on the road.

His Majesty barely flinched – before turning round to look at the egg and stoically carrying on.

Police pulled Patrick Thelwell – who has previously been a Green Party candidate – from the crowd and put him on the floor at Micklegate Bar in York.

He was then thrown into the back of a police van and removed from the scene – with cops later confirming a 23-year-old had been arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.

Several images show Thelwell sticking his tongue out as he was pulled away.

He has previously attended big Extinction Rebellion protests and been arrested several times.

Last year he was convicted for obstructing a highway after joining protests blocking newspaper printing presses.

He also designs ecological gardens with his firm Patch Gardening and is preparing to study a PhD at the University of York.
