Rihanna’s racy Met Gala afterparty outfit

After turning up to the Met Gala in a giant cloud of material, Rihanna went for the polar opposite look at the afterparty.

Met Gala 2021: Best looks

The most OTT event on the Hollywood calendar – the Met Gala – has continued into the night with a string of afterparties across New York City attracting a bevy of outrageously-dressed celebrities.

After showing up to the Met Gala in a puffer jacket-style dress, Rihanna took a completely different approach for her afterparty.

The singer wore a black T-shirt and beaded sheer skirt – which left very, very little to the imagination.

Kendall Jenner was seen in a strapless red minidress with a luxurious train as she left the Carlyle Hotel to head out for the second part of the evening.

Earlier, she’d hit the red carpet on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a bejellewed “naked” Givenchy dress.

Genius.

After walking the Met Gala red carpet in a Conner Ives dress – chosen by Vogue editor Anna Wintour herself – Natalia Bryant changed into an elaborately layered black dress featuring sheer panels.

The 18-year-old daughter of late basketballer Kobe Bryant hit the afterparties with her mum, Vanessa Bryant, who was looking glam in a green wrap dress.

The Met Gala has been organised by Vogue editor Anna Wintour since 1995, and has become a much-loved celebration of fashion which also raises funds – usually around eight figures – for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

It also coincides with the opening of the Museum’s annual fashion exhibition.

The Met Gala boasts one of the most exclusive guest lists on the celebrity calendar, and always attracts the cream of the Hollywood crop.

According to Page Six, guests have to pay between $US30,000 to $US50,000 ($A41,000 to $A68,000) per ticket (tables can range between $US275,000 to $US500,000, or $A375,000 to $A683,000) – although the costs are usually covered by fashion brands who invite celebrities and models as their guests.
