The British royal family have a never-ending list of social obligations, but Rami Malek claims he managed to make an impression on Kate Middleton during their brief conversation.

The Oscar-winning actor, 40, crossed paths with the Duchess of Cambridge at the No Time To Die premiere in London last week, but it was actually a chat they shared at the 2019 BAFTA Awards that he remembers fondly.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, the Bohemian Rhapsody actor said he noticed just how much homework the royals do on actors before attending events.

“I just looked at Princess Kate at one point and said, ‘This must be exhausting’,” he recalled saying to the Duchess.

“She said, ‘Why?’ and I said, ‘You just had a baby right?’. I think she was taken aback. She said, ‘How are you doing?’ and I said, ‘No, how are you?’”.

The conversation had taken place 10 months after the birth of Kate and Prince William’s third child, Prince Louis, in 2018, and Malek claims his question caught the royal off guard.

“In the most regal, elegant way she gave me a look, but you could tell. Imagine, dressed to the nines, you have to talk to all these actors,” he said.

“It was so cool, because I think I caught her off-guard for a second and [she] had that look of, in the most elegant, professional, royal way, ‘Yes, it’s a lot having a kid’,” he added.

Actor Daniel Craig also had some lovely words to say to Kate at the premiere of his final James Bond movie on September 28, which was held at the Royal Albert Hall.

The 53-year-old British actor was blown away by the Duchess’ glittering gold gown, telling her, “You look jolly lovely!”.

No Time To Die will be released in Australian theatres on November 11.

It is Craig’s final outing as agent 007, after stepping into the role in 2006’s Casino Royale.

There’s no word yet on who the next Bond will be, with Tom Hardy, Idris Elba and Henry Cavill among the actors rumoured to take over.
