Despite her denials, a new book has claimed it was Meghan Markle who caused Kate Middleton to “burst into tears”.

Meghan Markle did make Kate Middleton cry in the now infamous flower girl dress stoush, a royal biographer has claimed.

Kate reportedly “burst into tears” over Meghan’s allegedly negative comparison of Princess Charlotte to good friend Jessica Mulroney’s daughter during a flower girl fitting in 2018.

Writing in his controversial new book, Revenge, royal biographer Tom Bower claims sources told him Meghan and Kate disagreed about the fit of Princess Charlotte’s dress ahead of the Duchess of Sussex’s wedding.

According to a report in The Sun, Mr Bower says he was also told they could not agree on whether the young flower girls “should wear tights” at the ceremony.

Mr Bower said Kate had been “tired” following the birth of son Louis, which came just a month before the Sussexes wedding, and said she was “irritated by complaints of Meghan bullying her staff”.

When it came to the tights debacle, he claims Kate was “too fatigued to cope” with the disagreement, but felt they should stick to the royal tradition.

Bower said: “Meghan’s insistence was supported by Jessica, the mother of Ivy,” adding: “Some would say that Meghan compared Ivy favourably against Charlotte.”

He goes on to claim the disagreement was followed by a second argument “about the length of Charlotte’s hem – Kate felt it was too short and anyway did not fit,” according to Mr Bower.

He also says Meghan “wouldn’t compromise” – and Kate became upset.

But the alleged version of events follow a number of differing reports around the so-called fight.

The alleged version of events are the latest in a long line of claims about the argument. Early reports in 2018 claimed Meghan who had made Kate cry during a disagreement over the dresses.

The Duchess of Sussex later disagreed in her bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, claiming it was the other way around and adding: “She (Kate) was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologised. And she brought me flowers”.

“It wasn’t a confrontation, and I actually think it’s … I don’t think it’s fair to her to get into the details of that, because she apologised,” Meghan told Winfrey.

“What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn’t do but that happened to me.

“And the people who were part of our wedding were going to our comms team and saying: ‘I know this didn’t happen. I don’t have to tell them what actually happened.”

But speaking on Good Morning Britain on Thursday local time, Mr Bower acknowledged all his sources were people who don’t like Meghan, confessing: ‘She made it pretty clear to all her friends and people who work for her not to talk to me, so it was quite an uphill struggle but I got enough people to speak to me, more than enough, I got about 80 people.’

But he insisted the biography was unbiased, adding: “I sifted through, I never put in stuff that isn’t true and can’t be checked.”
