Prince Harry, Meghan Markle invited to King Charles’ coronation after Frogmore Cottage eviction

King Charles has extended another olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the royal pair received an invite to the monarch’s coronation.

‘He’s had enough’: ‘Spare’ was ‘certainly a factor’ in King’s decision to evict Sussexes

It has been confirmed that King Charles has invited his son the Duke of Sussex to his coronation and is “hell bent” on him attending.

The monarch has extended an olive branch with the offer of a room to stay at Buckingham Palace.

The accommodation handout is a move to encourage California-based Prince Harry and his wife the Duchess of Sussex to remain in close contact after the monarch took the difficult decision of handing the couple’s British base Frogmore Cottage to the Duke of York.

“The king has not turned his back on his son, he loves him desperately, despite the difficulties the past few years in their relationship, but he is hell bent on inviting his son to the coronation and wants him there on the day he is crowned and has said the family can stay at Buckingham Palace,” royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said.

The Sussexes have been invited to the coronation on May 6 in an email from the king but are refusing to confirm whether or not they will attend the event, which falls on their son Archie’s 4th birthday.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been invited to the event.

A Sussex spokesperson told The Times: “I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation.

“An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”

Frogmore Cottage was dilapidated and used as staff apartments before the Sussexes moved in and underwent extensive renovations.

It is understood the couple will be offered Prince Andrew’s former suite in the Palace – where he once entertained the model Caprice and disgraced socialite Ghisaline Maxwell – whenever they visit Britain.

It is reported King Charles has offered Frogmore to Prince Andrew, who is reluctantly set to leave the 30-room Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor where he has resided for more than 20 years with his wife Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson.

The king is revising living arrangements for the royals in general and it is believed Prince William and his family could move into Royal Lodge.

The relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family has become fractious in recent months, with both Prince Harry and Ms Markle publicly attacking the Firm.

It is reported that Prince William and his wife Catherine, who currently live in the smaller Adelaide Cottage, may move into Royal Lodge.

Princess Eugenie, the daughter of Prince Andrew, may be allocated Adelaide Cottage.

For years Prince Andrew enjoyed the use of a suite at Buckingham Palace known as the Chamber Floor, the Mail on Sunday reports.

But he lost his London base after being stripped of his military roles and royal patronages over his links to the disgraced paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Prince Andrew agreed a huge payout to his Australian-based accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre, but he continues to vehemently deny any wrongdoing or misconduct.

Prince Harry revealed intimate, personal conversations involving himself and other members of this family in his memoir Spare, which was released earlier this year.

The publication saw explosive details of the tense relationship between Prince Harry and his older brother Prince William exposed, including the Duke retelling how they were involved in a physical altercation that left the Duke of Sussex injured.

Prince Harry and Ms Markle – who now live in a nine-bedroom £12 million house in Montecito, California – have been told they have until the autumn to move any belongings out of Frogmore Cottage.
