Avatar star Sam Worthington makes rare public appearance with wife Lara

Lara and Sam Worthington shared a very affectionate – and uncharacteristic – moment as they hit the blue carpet for a special Avatar screening.

Sam and Lara Worthington have hit the blue carpet in Sydney for a special preview screening event of Avatar: The Way of Water.

Sam, who has reprised his role as Jake Sully in the long-awaited sequel to James Cameron’s blockbuster hit, colour-coordinated with his model wife as they smiled for the cameras on Monday night.

Lara, 35, looked as chic as ever in a black cut-out dress with a one-sided train, styling her signature long bob in loose waves, while Sam, 46, opted for a casual black suit.

The couple looked as happy as ever during the rare public outing, posing together and smiling affectionately at each other ahead of the special screening.

The fiercely private couple, who wed in 2014, have three sons together – Rocket, 7, Racer, 6, and River, 2. So low-key are the famous pair, they didn’t even publicly reveal their youngest son’s name until around a year after his birth.

“I think any addition brings joy and happiness to the family, but more so when you can share it with the other boys. It’s such a boy’s club in my house!” Lara told Vogue Australia during her third pregnancy.

Avatar: The Way of Water will finally premiere in Australia on December 15 – 23 years after the original instalment hit cinemas.

Returning to the franchise alongside Sam are Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Giovanni Ribisi.
