Queen Mary's flirty remark leaves police officers red-faced

Queen Mary left a group of male police officers red-faced after she made a flirtatious comment at an airport.

The Australian-born queen was walking close behind her husband, King Frederik, at Nuuk airport, in Greenland, when she addressed the officers directly.

Walking past the four men, who had been standing in the airport alongside their sniffer dogs to help keep the royals safe, she stopped and said: “How handsome you are!”

The officers appeared visibly nervous before thanking the royal for the unexpected compliment.

However, the truth was then revealed when Queen Mary clarified: “So … are the dogs,” leading the four officers to realise she had been complimenting the dogs all along.

They then erupted into laughter.

The clip, which has since made its way onto social media, was well-received by fans who loved the Queen’s sense of humour.

“She has a good sense of humour, our Queen,” replied one fan, with another praising the royal for her joke.

It comes just days after Mary was knocked to the ground by an electric scooter.

Mary’s youngest children, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, were just metres away when the monarch appeared to be almost knocked to the floor as gasps were heard in the crowd.

Her husband was also nearby greeting fans when the incident occurred.

Thankfully, Mary appeared to handle the situation with the grace she’s come to be known for, and shrugged it off as she could be seen regaining her balance and continuing to greet the crowd.

As she stood back up, her security guards quickly leapt into action and stopped the scooter from moving any further.

A spectator said those close to the incident could see the royal’s eyes “full with water” after she had been struck.

“I could see how much it hurt her, her eyes watered immediately. It must hurt to be hit at that speed,” said a bystander. “The police immediately barricaded and removed her from the situation.”

Video of the incident was obtained by Danish news agency Ekstra Bladet, which received confirmation from the Royal House communications department that Queen Mary had not been injured.

It is understood the police and palace security were satisfied with the elderly man’s account of the incident being nothing more than an accident. It’s believed he accidentally hit the accelerator on his scooter while trying to extend his hand to the queen.
