Princess Catherine and King Charles have made their first public appearance since the release of the controversial royal book Endgame.

The Princess of Wales received a standing ovation as she and husband Prince William arrived at a gala night in London after British broadcaster Piers Morgan named her as one of two royals identified in the Dutch version of Omid Scobie’s new book as taking part in a discussion about the skin colour of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son, Archie. The other royal named was King Charles.

The Wales, both 41, were all smiles as they arrived at the Royal Albert Hall for the annual Royal Variety Performance. The couple were scheduled to attend the annual event, having last attended in 2021.

Catherine wore a caped gown in teal with a crystal-embellished neckline and floor-length split sleeves by London label Safiyaa.

She looked relaxed with her hair down in loose dark chocolate glossy waves.

The pair attended the event alongside Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel, following their official meeting earlier in the day at Windsor Castle.

It was Catherine and William’s first public outing together since Endgame hit the shelves, dropping a number of bombshells about the British royals.

In Endgame, Catherine is described as a royal who works “part-time” and has earned herself the nickname of “Kate Keen” because the palace press office hides her reportedly lower workload by saying she is “keen to learn”.

The future queen is also branded as “cold” in the book and it is alleged that she ignored her sister-in-law Meghan’s “cries for help” despite being an advocate for mental health.

Meanwhile King Charles, who is in Dubai to give a keynote speech at the COP28 climate change conference, was reportedly asked by Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu how he was.

According to the Daily Mail, the monarch, 75, replied: “I’m all right, very much, just about.”

He added: “Having had a rather ancient birthday recently, recovering from the shock of that.”

During his appearance on ITV’s This Morning, Scobie said he was “obviously frustrated” that the royals accused of racism were named in the Dutch version of his book.

Scobie has previously denied including the names of the royal family members in the book’s English manuscript, adding that a “translation error” led to them appearing in the Dutch translation.

“I have never submitted a book that had their names in it, so I can only talk about my version,” he said.

“I am obviously frustrated. I wouldn’t say I am upset about it because I have been operating in a bubble of no emotion.”
