Meghan Markle has released a cute new detail about her daughter, Princess Lilibet, as she embarks on a marketing mission promoting her new Netflix lifestyle show.
The Duchess of Sussex revealed to her friend, chef Adrian Lipscombe, that the three year old — who is currently seventh in line to the British throne — is going through her “princess phase”.
It comes as a royal expert has claimed Americans will “hate” the Duchess of Sussex’s new show cooking “elevated” food with her A-list friends as they struggle.
Netflix released a trailer for With Love, Meghan in which the former actress will share her ideas on cooking, gardening, crafting, flower arranging and hosting.
Guests will include celebrated chef Alice Waters, actress Mindy Kaling and close friend Abigail Spencer, one of the Duchess’ former Suits co-stars.
Prince Harry also appears briefly in the trailer for the eight-episode series.
“I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it,” the Duchess of Sussex wrote on social media last week after her return to Instagram where she’s already notched up 1.4 million followers.
“Beyond grateful for the support – and fun!”
But royal expert Hugo Vickers has claimed the new show will not resonate with those struggling to make ends meet.
“The sort of food that she’s producing is not going to appeal to a lot of people who can’t afford to buy that sort of thing,” he told The Sun.
“I mean a lot of people are suffering. This is a time of hardship generally and I’m sure in America likewise.
“And so I don’t really quite know what we’re going to make of a star in a white dress, and not even wearing an apron, putting together all this stuff.
“And to what end? I don’t know. Really.”
Rising prices have been a key concern for Americans in recent years.
The majority of Americans feel worse off than they did four years ago, according to several polls, as the world remains in a cost of living crisis.
It comes as US political commentator Meghan McCain also bagged the Duchess, calling her “out of touch” over the show while “Americans can’t pay for groceries”.
“I was originally a Meghan Markle supporter, I thought she was cool, stylish and refreshing,” said McCain on social media.
“Like the rest of the world my opinion changed when she disrespected the royal family. Now that she wants to be American again instead of British aristocracy what she seems to forget is Americans want real, raw, uncensored,” McCain said.
Observing Markle’s interactions in her kitchen, garden, and elsewhere in her home with special guests like A-list Hollywood actress Mindy Kaling, McCain added that “all of this even in the trailer is highly curated, produced and out of touch,” before citing “2 terror attacks in 2 days, major wars raging” and her assessment that “Americans can’t pay for groceries” as reasons for her pointed words toward the project.
“We are a country in rage, uncertainty and intensity right now,” she said.
“This concept is ill advised. I would have told her to do a show helping bring fresh food to food deserts in low income neighbourhoods. Do something to help people instead of your ego. This is why the world doesn’t like you, nothing else. Just completely and utterly tone deaf to the moment.”
There will be eight 33 minute episodes featuring a host of Ms Markle’s various Hollywood friends trying her simple, yet “elevated”, food.
A montage of various clips in the nearly two minute video showed the former royal walking through vegetable patches and fields.
She was also filmed browsing through beautiful flowers for table arrangements.
The Duchess even tried her hand at beekeeping, fully suited up, as she collected honey.
In the new trailer, Ms Markle said: “I’ve always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it.
“Surprising people with moments that let them know I was really thinking of them. I’m going to share some little tips and tricks.
“I see what colour I gravitate to, and everything goes from there. And how you incorporate these practices every day.
“This is about connecting with friends. I love that we’re doing this together for the first time. Making new friends… and just learning.
“We’re not in the pursuit of perfection. We’re in the pursuit of joy. I have to get it totally wrong, to get it totally right.”
The trailer showcased many “candid” moments, from Ms Markle accidentally squeezing some lemon juice in her eye, to knocking freshly baked goodies off a plate.
Prince Harry featured at the end of the video, embracing his wife in a warm hug.
The pair laughed as they sipped some mimosas.
The show description reads: “This inspiring series, produced by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old.
“Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected.
“She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same.
“Guests include Roy Choi, Mindy Kaling, Alice Waters, with additional acclaimed chefs and special friends.”
