‘Knives out’: Prince Andrew’s new row with King Charles over Royal Lodge

A fresh row has erupted between Prince Andrew and King Charles after the scandal-plagued royal was hit with an eviction notice.

Prince Andrew is refusing to vacate his 30-room mansion in a new row with King Charles, who wants to give the home to Prince William and his young family.

Earlier this year it was revealed that King Charles was slashing the $470,000 subsidy his younger brother received from the late Queen Elizabeth.

It meant the Duke of York would struggle to afford the running costs of Royal Lodge at Windsor.

According to The Sun, King Charles “offered” Prince Andrew the keys to Frogmore Cottage, which was previously the home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

However, The Sun reports, friends of Prince Andrew say he is determined to stay put. One said: “This has been his family home for the last 20 years. Is it really sensible to kick him out?”

He’s concerned that now the Coronation is over, the knives are out. But we’re dealing with human beings, not real estate.”

Another friend told The Sun: “Eugenie is heavily pregnant and her parents expect to have the new grandchild there this summer.”

Courtiers widely believe that plans have been drawn up to allow Prince William and his family to eventually move into the historic Royal Lodge.

The mansion was the Windsor residence of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother from 1952 until she died there in 2002, at the age of 101.

Palace chiefs were said to have initially set a September deadline for Prince Andrew to vacate Royal Lodge.

However, they now accept that this is too early, The Sun reports.

The scandal-hit Prince Andrew was forced to step down as a working royal in 2019 due to his links to disgraced convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
