Australia is set to welcome British royalty, with the Duchess of York heading to Western Australia to headline a literary festival later this year.

Sarah Ferguson will attend Perth’s newest literary festival, the Festival of Fiction, as a “special guest”.

The event, presented by Peter Cowan Writers Centre, will take place on October 19 at Edith Cowan University in Joondalup, in Perth’s north.

The Duchess has written more than 55 books, including two autobiographies, covering topics such as health, empowerment, history and art.

She has written children’s books, including the New York Times bestseller “Tea for Ruby”.

The Duchess was formerly married to Prince Andrew, Duke of York, with whom she shares two children, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

The Festival of Fiction will feature panels presided over by some of Australia’s most popular children’s, young adult and adult fiction writers.

There will also be an opportunity for children’s, young adult and adult fiction writers to pitch their manuscripts.

Book lovers and aspiring writers who are hoping to purchase a ticket to the event are out of luck though, with the event having already sold out within one day.

However, writers hoping to pitch to a publisher or literary agent will be still able to buy tickets to pitch sessions that have not yet gone on sale.

More information about the event, including how to join the waitlist for tickets, is available at https://festivaloffiction.com.au/.
