‘Divorce deal’: Shock new Meghan Markle theory emerges

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix bosses are reluctant to cut ties with the pair for one huge reason, an expert has claimed.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix TV bosses are hoping for a “divorce deal” if the pair decide to split, it has been claimed.

Netflix executives, The Sun reports, will be reluctant to cut ties with the pair in case of a potential break-up, said TV expert Marina Hyde.

Despite scathing reviews, Netflix is making a second series of Meghan’s controversial series, With Love Meghan.

“The reality is that a lot of people are hanging around in case there’s a divorce,” Hyde told fellow co-host Richard Osman on The Rest is Entertainment podcast.

“That might be why Netflix, or whoever it might be, who’s got to deal with them, might keep a vague hand in.”

Hyde said despite the backing of Meghan’s series for a second season, she doubted Netflix would renew the Sussexes’ controversial $158-million Netflix contract, which has spawned a string of flops.

Meghan’s lifestyle program has copped scathing reviews, with critics labelling the series smug and elitist.

The Sun reported that the renewal of With Love, Meghan for a second season did not indicate that Netflix will want another major deal with the Sussexes, as the second series was likely already filmed back-to-back with the first and was part of the initial contract.

A TV insider told The Sun: “Netflix have been broadly pleased with the show and don’t care if the reviews are scathing.

“The streamer’s name has been on everyone’s lips for the past week and that’s a victory for them.

“But it’s now a question of whether they feel that striking another deal represents value for money, or if they feel that they have explored all the opportunities they can with the couple.”

Meghan’s next project will land within weeks with the launch of her new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, on April 8.

The project, with Lemonada Media, will invite listeners to “be a fly on the wall as Meghan sits down for candid conversations with female founders and friends”, the US podcast company said.

Amid the controversy over her Netflix series, Meghan recently admitted she makes “mistakes” but insisted that she is “learning every day” by taking “baby steps”.

In an interview with  the Santa Barbara bookshop Godmothers, which was named by Meghan’s friend Oprah Winfrey, she was asked when she last “felt like a beginner at something”.

She said: “Right now! I’m launching my business, As Ever, which has been my heartsong for years. Every day I’m learning so much as a founder.

“I’m taking baby steps and big strides at the same time, making mistakes and learning from them, and really working to find all the joy while diving into the creative process and the business.

“Being in the granular parts of the business gives me the same feeling I have when I’m gardening: bare hands in the soil, planting a seed with so much care, and nurturing it as it grows.”
