It may be a night to celebrate the boys, but it was the girls turning heads on the Brownlow red carpet and turning the Brownlow into the Gownlow.
With everyone decked out in their glad rags for the night, the radiant wives and girlfriends of the AFL players stunned in a range of outfits – from the conservative to the classic to the risque.
Stealing the spotlight from the beginning, the partners of the players moved through the night in a haze of sequins, stilettos and spray tans.
Bright, bold colours dominated the night in a welcome break from Melbourne’s penchant for head-to-toe black.
Dazzling in sequins was Bella Beischer, fiancee of Melbourne star Christian Petracca.
Beischer stepped out in a custom Kyha Studios gown and said she was very excited to be at the Brownlow.
“I’m so proud of Christian and the season he’s had, so it’s such a joy to be here and celebrate the boys,” she said.
“It took me several hours to get ready but it’s such a gorgeous dress and I feel very lucky to be wearing it.”
Another fresh face glowing on the carpet was Tash Hoole, partner of Tigers player Tim Taranto, who sported a black figure-hugging gown with daring cutouts in the middle, bust and thigh.
Alex Pendlebury stunned in an orange sequined gown – by Oglia-Loro Couture – and said it took her about three hours to pull the look together.
“When you have hair and makeup and clothes and you’re jumping from room to room, it takes quite a while,” Ms Pendlebury said.
Dressed by internationally renowned Adelaide couture house Paolo Sebastian, Kellie Finlayson – wife of Port Adelaide player Jeremy Finlayson – was the image of class and elegance and developed her breathtaking look with stylist Lauren Dilena.
Among the more daring looks was Brodie Ryan, girlfriend of Nathan Buckley.
Sporting a plunging dark-green gown with a high thigh split, Ryan’s shiny getup was an early head turner on the red carpet.
Dee and Darcy’s official debut
Collingwood captain Darcy Moore walked the red carpet with another blonde bombshell – new girlfriend Dee Salmin.
The cute pair made their official debut at footy’s night of nights but made only a few brief stops to chat.
Moore, who has captured the admiration of the footy world with his leadership of the grand finalists, looked happy and proud to have the Triple J host by his side.
Salmin co-hosts a weekly show called The Hook Up discussing sex and lifestyle situations.
She and Moore were styled by Abir Ahmed and had a glam squad for the occasion.
They were first spotted together at the Moulin Rouge premiere last month.
She posed there on the red carpet with friend Bridget Hustwaite.
