Aussie actress Phoebe Tonkin has revealed she is engaged after spending a romantic summer abroad holidaying in the south of France.
In a low-key announcement to Instagram, the ‘Boy Swallows Universe’ star confirmed her secret romance while showing off her sparkling new accessory in series of loved up images.
“Film back from the summer of love,” Tonkin, 35, captioned the collection.
It is one of the few times the soon-to-be newlyweds have shared their romance publicly, with notoriously private Tonkin opting to keep much of their time together under wraps.
One black and white image showed Tonkin and her new fiancé Bernard Lagrange sharing a sweet kiss as she sports a large oval cut diamond on her left hand.
Scattered in between shots of lavender fields and chateaus was another showing the ‘Vampire Diaries’ actress flaunting her new rock as she stroked her future husband’s hair.
While Tonkin remained tight-lipped on finer details, it appears Lagrange, who works as an art dealer and director at a US auction house, popped the question while on vacation with friends to countryside in the south of France.
Plenty of A-listers flooded the comments section to share their well wishes, including actress Samara Weaving who described the happy news as “heaven”.
Meanwhile, celeb pals Lara Worthington, Teresa Palmer, popstar Rita Ora, and supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whitely also celebrated the happy news.
Sydney-born Tonkin found fame after landing a role as a mermaid in the popular after-school series, H20: Just Add Water when she was only 16, before going on to star in a number of big Hollywood productions when she relocated to the US.
“I never wanted to be an actor,” Tonkin told Stellar back in 2020.
“I just wanted to tell stories. If there is any outlet where I can do that, then I will find any way to be creative.”
