The Golden Globes has wrapped up for another year, with some of the biggest films and television shows of the year recognised.
Following a chic red carpet display which saw Margot Robbie steal the show in pink, comedian Jerrod Carmichael delivered a biting opening monologue in which he revealed his eye-watering salary and explained the controversial past of the Golden Globes.
Best film in the drama category went to Steven Speilberg's The Fabelmans, and The Banshees of Inisherin took out the gong for the musical or comedy genre.
Elsewhere, Austin Butler, Jennifer Coolidge and Kevin Costner all took out big wins.
This year’s ceremony was certainly an upgrade on the 2022 event, which saw the show reduced to a streamed slide show without a host or a red carpet after NBC dropped the broadcast and celebrities boycotted the event over corruption and racism claims
As for the nominees, Australia was well-represented, particularly in the film category, with Margot Robbie nominated for Best Actress in a comedy for her upcoming movie Babylon, Cate Blanchett for Best Actress in a drama for Tar, and Baz Luhrmann in the running for Best Director for his dazzling Elvis biopic.
In the television category, Melbourne actress Elizabeth Debicki has scored a nod for her portrayal of Princess Diana in season 5 of The Crown.
Hugh Jackman is also among the Best Actor in a drama nods for The Son, though he has stiff competition against firm favourite Brendan Fraser, whose been generating Oscar buzz for months for his performance in The Whale.
The tragicomedy film The Banshees of Inisherin lead overall nominations with eight, including Best Picture in the musical or comedy genre.
Box office juggernaut Top Gun: Maverick has unsurprisingly snagged a nod for Best Film – drama, though Tom Cruise failed to score an honour in the Best Actor category.
