After multiple incredible entries in Victoria’s search for the state’s best Book Week costume, one youngster’s look seemed to stick out from the rest.

Kaspar from Yarraville has taken out the title in his intricate tree costume based on the book ‘Stickman’ by Julia Donaldson.

“Turns out carrying half a tree is slightly heavier than expected … but just like the real Stickman, he soldiered on, rooted for courage, and really branched out,” said Kasper’s nominator, Cees Salmeron.

“A true twig legend in the making.”

Rounding out the top three were Grace and Ayla from Lara, who pulled off the perfect Oompa Loopa look, and Sophia from Lalor who went all out as the book fairy.
