Dan Andrews’ son setting hearts racing in a time of COVID

Daniel Andrews’ son Noah may be buckling down like fellow VCE students for his end of year exams, but that hasn’t stopped social media users from pointing his likeness to an international singer.

One of Victoria’s highest profile VCE students Noah Andrews, the son of the premier, is sending hearts aflutter.

VCE chat sites are declaring the eldest Andrews’ son a lookalike for Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes circa 2014.

He has figured in thousands of comments, many from swooning girls, and at least one TikTok.

Two VCE students told the Herald Sun the online banter was a welcome diversion from the rigours of the school year. Mostly it is in good spirit.

The eldest of three children, he will turn 18 on Sunday.

In Year 12 at a low fee paying Catholic school, Premier Andrews has employed Noah in his messaging to families navigating VCE during the pandemic, emphasising that he can relate to the on again, off again Year 12 year.

Last Saturday, as Mr Andrews announced more funding for mental health, he posted a picture of himself and Noah to his nearly 900,000 Facebook and 133,000 Instagram followers.

On July 21 he posted a picture of the pair doing a remote parent-teacher interview.

Noah is one of about 20 Year 12 prefects at the school in Melbourne’s south east. Last year he was among the half a dozen students to receive Year 11 awards.

“I couldn’t imagine doing VCE or VCAL today,” Mr Andrews told his Facebook followers.

“Away from school, without my mates, and stressing over exams – during a global pandemic.

“Don’t get me wrong, I was a decent student, a bit of a nerd, but I’m not sure how I would have got through a year like this.

Growing up is hard enough, but the stresses and strains of 2020 are something else.”

I know this hasn’t been easy:

My son, Noah, is studying hard for his upcoming SACs.”

In a post about the parent-teacher interviews he said “there’s no handbook for this, but I know every single student, teacher and parent out there is doing their absolute best.”
