A teen has been taken to hospital after a shocking schoolyard fight at a trouble-plagued Victorian school.

The Herald Sun has been told by parents a fight broke out between two male year 9 students at Greater Shepparton College’s Mooroopna campus on Monday about 1.30pm.

One parent, who asked not to be named, told the Herald Sun dozens of students saw the fight break out, with one of the students involved seen with “blood all over their school jumper”.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics were called at 1.37pm.

“A teenage male was assessed for an upper body injury and taken to Goulburn Valley Health in a stable condition,” she said.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said police were called to an educational facility on Echuca Rd, Mooroopna to reports of an assault on Monday, May 17.

“Police have been told a teenage boy was assaulted just before 1.40pm,” she said.

“Mooroopna police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and it remains ongoing.”

An Education Department spokeswoman said: “An incident occurred today involving two GSSC students.”

“A student was taken to hospital for treatment as a precautionary measure,” she said.

“Aggressive behaviour is not tolerated in our schools and the school has immediately acted to address the behaviour.”

The fight comes after the Herald Sun revealed last month a string of shocking incidents at the school including several schoolyard brawls in recent weeks and official incident reports detailing a litany of physical and verbal attacks on teachers.

The state government is building a new $119m mega campus on the old Shepparton High site to house the new super school, which is currently operating on three campuses with years 7-8 and some 11-12 students at McGuire, years 10-12 at Wanganui and year 9 at Mooroopna.
