ISLAMIST TERROR ATTACKS: LONDON BRIDGE, MARKET

 A terrorist attack in London. People mown down by a van on London Bridge. Three men then went on a stabbing spree.  UPDATE: Witness reports attacker shouting: "This is for Allah." UPDATE: six people murdered. Police shoot dead the three attackers within eight minutes.

A man has mown down people on London Bridge with his van.  

BBC reporter Holly Jones: "He swerved right round me and then hit about five or six people... I'd say there are about four severely injured people."

Police report  a knife attack, too, and are also rushing to a nearby market:

The Met said armed officers were also at the nearby Borough Market. It said "multiple resources" are in attendance.

UPDATE

Two men entered a restaurant at Borough Market, just south of London Bridge, and stabbed two people inside, a witness told CNN on Saturday. The patrons sheltered in the basement and police have arrived at the scene, the witness said.

"As well as #LondonBridge officers have also responded to an incident in #BoroughMarket. We have armed police at the scenes," London's Metropolitan Police tweeted.

UPDATE

At least two people are reported dead and several others injured in what police are now calling terrorist attacks:

Alex Shellum was in the Mudlark pub with his girlfriend and two friends, underneath London Bridge, at the time of the incident.

"At around 22:00 BST an injured woman came into the pub seeking assistance.

"She was bleeding heavily from the neck - it appeared that her throat had been cut. People sought to stem the bleeding and the pub was closed.

"Outside the pub, emergency services were performing CPR on a further individual. From there, we were instructed to move along by armed police.

 As predicted:

An eyewitness named Eric told the BBC that he saw three men stabbing people on London Bridge, and heard them shouting: "This is for Allah"...

Police are hunting for three men, Reuters reports.

The men are believed to have been in the van.

Police respond extremely fast. They have shot dead the three attackers in just eight minutes. But not before six people were murdered and 20 people put in hospital.
