GUESS THE POLITICS OF THE ABC'S GREEN
One of the least self-aware ABC presenters is Jonathan Green, now paid to discuss black dresses and which fruits are sexy. Recall his petulant complaint at once being pinged as Left wing: "How does Greg Sheridan have any clue what my politics are? We've never met... Beyond parody." Beyond parody is his recent opining, an insight into ABC bias.
One of the least self-aware ABC presenters is Jonathan Green, whose latest gig includes discussing black dresses and which fruits are sexy.
But if his self-awareness is small, his sensitivity to criticism is infamously monstrous, as eager collectors of his emailed howls of rage and spite can attest.
Greg Sheridan once noted the blinding, bleeding obvious of Green, who celebrated the defeat of John Howard with a party in which his guests were urged to bash a Howard pinata.
Here is how Green responded:
How does Greg Sheridan have any clue what my politics are? We've never met. Never had a conversation. Beyond parody.
I am not sure exactly what Green thought back then: whether he thought he was not really of the left, or whether he thought he had cunningly hidden it from the rest of us.
But for me Green remains a perfect example of ABC bias - which, by the way, in unlawful. I say that because he is actually such a poor radio presenter that even the ABC has obviously demoted him. You could easily find a hundred better presenters, yet Green still gets a gig ... and why?
Because he fits so perfectly into the ABC groupthink - that echo-chamber of tick-the-box Leftism. I cannot think of a single opinion he holds that doesn't fit the stereotype of an ABC Leftist.
Take his recent tweets, which I assume Green fondly believes still doesn't allow a Sheridan to make any conclusions about Green's politics:
This week's analytic narrative: that political victory seems to hug the centre? Maybe the fringe right is just a fringe?
