CLEMENTINE FORD'S BUSINESS MODEL: MARTYR
Clementine Ford on receiving vile abuse: "As foul and hateful as the language of this is, it's mostly just boring to hear over and over how disgusting a stranger finds you." Ford dishing out vile abuse: "The ABC has apologised to News Corp columnist Miranda Devine after Hack Live guest Clementine Ford referred to her as a c**t."
Clementine Ford is making a career of being the victim-martyr of vile abuse, which she often detects by trawling on line for examples.
Here is today's effort, in which Ford praises her courage and sacrifice in enduring abuse:
As foul and hateful as the language of this is, it's mostly just boring to hear over and over how disgusting a stranger finds you... This is the cost. But I'm not done paying it yet.
All very moving to some, I'm sure, and I would have even more sympathy myself were it not for the fact that this same Clementine Ford subjects others to the same kind of abuse she complains of - and broadcasts that abuse much more publicly, too:
The ABC has apologised to News Corp columnist Miranda Devine after Hack Live guest Clementine Ford referred to her as a c**t.
Her record is astonishing - of abuse and of hypocrisy:
Fairfax columnist Clementine Ford has printed and sold "F... Abbott" T-shirts.
Fairfax columnist Clementine Ford has jeered that a female journalist of Iranian background " will never be a white man".
Fairfax columnist Clementine Ford has called former Queensland Premier Campbell Newman a " c..t".
Fairfax columnist Clementine Ford has called conservative columnist Miranda Devine a " f...ing c..t".
“Not all men are petulant, whiny babies but a f**kload of them do a good job of acting like it.” – Ford’s nuanced view of gender politics.
“In that case I'll give you an unsolicited opinion too. You're a f**kwit.” – Twitter is a richer place for Ford’s presence.
“In conclusion, shut the f**k up Miranda until you know what you're talking about.” – Clementine takes gentle issue with Daily Telegraph columnist Miranda Devine...
“Hey Sunrise Get F**ked.” – Ford gets her message across to the morning television program by writing it on her naked chest like a mental patient.
“F**k off Sunrise you bunch of absolute f**king bell-ends.” – Ford expands on her thoughts in a Twitter post.
“You're a f**king idiot mate.” – A certain thematic consistency is evident in Ford’s work...
“You f**king moron.” – Ford, yet again.
“F**k off.” – And again.
“If I magnified the tiny tiny speck that is your dick, I'd probably be offended by that.” – Clementine deals with an opponent.
“Well, we’d just kill them.” – Ford imagines the outcome for non-compliant men on her fantasy feminist island.
“F**k off, dipshit.” – Guess who.
“It makes me sad that a 15 year old is such a horrible bigot and a dickhead.” – Clementine tackles a child.
“F**k off.” – Ford may have this phrase programmed into her laptop.
And so we get to Ford's business model, in my opinion. Abuse others, search high and low for responses and then pose as the true victim.
We explore the issue of online abuse & speak to Clementine Ford about tackling the problem head on #TheProjectTV
December 2015 (by Ford herself):
Over the course of a few hours last night and this morning, I went through my public Facebook page to block and delete scores of comments calling me a whore, a slut, a dumb c---, a fat b---- who needs to get laid, a b---- who should kill herself and, in one memorable circumstance, a woman who needed to be shot in the face and put in a grave.
Ever since a man lost his job because Clementine Ford reported his online abuse to his employer, flame-throwers have accused her, among other things, of being a man-hating whore.
Clementine Ford speaks her mind and she is often provocative ... The writer and commentator's views have made her the subject of constant online abuse.
CLEMENTINE FORD: The first time someone calls you a fat ugly (bleep) it really does hurt, it stings and you think, "What have I done to deserve this?"
Clementine Ford is no stranger to controversy. Her articles on gender inequality, violence against women and rape culture often go viral.
She famously calls out online trolls, publicly naming and shaming them.
She was also briefly banned from Facebook just for reposting the torrent of abuse she was sent over a semi-nude protest photo...
"You can always predict when the abuse might come in," says Ford, of the daily barrage of hateful comments she receives - and shares - on social media which usually target her feminist views.
Ford sighs about the first thing interviewers ask her: how do you cope with the abuse?...
Ford says: “The reason it [the abuse] is so prominent [in her book] is because I experience a lot of it, but also because I see other women experience it..."
