A GROUP caught on secret surveillance bantered about whether their cocaine was confiscated by police from bikies or their drug runners while they partied with two elite cops, it is alleged.
Police will allege they caught the group joking about the drugs being confiscated by police during a birthday at a penthouse suite in the Star Gold Coast’s Darling Hotel booked by Senior Constable Zachary Maidment on June 27 this year.
Maidment and fellow Rapid Action Patrol police officer Todd David both appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday facing multiple drug related charges including possession of cocaine and MDMA. Maidment has also been charged with supplying drugs, permitting use of place, possessing property suspected of being used in relation to a crime and possessing anything used in the commission of a crime.
The Rapid Action Patrol is an elite group who conduct operations, including into bikies and drugs.
Multiple others from the Darling party accused of doing cocaine and ecstasy also faced court on Monday, including Maidment's ex Tyana Maree Hansen, a stripper and star of the Ultra Tune advertisements including a recent one alongside Pamela Anderson.
Hansen has been charged with possessing anything used in the commission of a crime and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.
Police had bugged the penthouse suite as part of an ongoing investigation into Maidment.
Police will allege that partygoers were recorded saying: “Oh the boys in blue, (laughs). I’m dying, I keep saying Zac, oh yeah, the boys in blue.”
Someone else allegedly replied: “I said to him, I love cocaine when it’s confiscated, it tastes so much better”.
A third person then allegedly said: “Confiscated from criminals.”
Someone in the group then allegedly asks if the drugs came from “the bikie boss or like or one of the runners”.
It is alleged someone replied: “If it’s from one of the runners I don’t want to snort it …”
Maidment and David have not been accused of taking confiscated drugs but have been charged with possessing dangerous drugs.
Police also allege Maidment snorted a line of cocaine from Hansen’s breasts and arranged from someone else to snort cocaine off her other breast.
Maidment allegedly watched as Hansen cut lines of cocaine on another woman’s buttocks, police allege.
Police allege the surveillance tape also captured Maidment doing lines of cocaine multiple times during the night.
He is alleged to have said: “I had to wipe down every bench, cause every bench had cocaine on it”.
Police allege Maidment was also caught on surveillance tape speaking with David about taking “quarters” before handing him a tablet.
Maidment also allegedly told Daniel Rutt he had taken half a tablet of ecstasy.
Police allegedly tested the penthouse suite’s surfaces after Maidment and the group had left and found traces of cocaine.
A penthouse suite at the Darling starts at $3000 a night.
Rutt has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of unlawful possession of restricted drugs.
Maidment and David have been suspended from Queensland Police since the charges were laid in September.
