A 20-year-old man has been charged with assault after a suspected road rage incident on the M1.

A MAN has been charged with assault after an apparent ‘road rage’ incident in the northern Gold Coast on Sunday.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said a 21-year-old man was attacked during an altercation at the scene of a two-vehicle crash at Ormeau on the M1 northbound just before 6pm.

He said police were investigating whether a “road rage” incident led to the crash.

The two motorists involved, who were not known to each other, were both travelling north in separate cars when the crash occurred.

Three patients, including the 21-year-old man, who suffered a head injury, were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

20-year-old Jake Craig Woodman from Yarrabilba was later charged with assault occasioning bodily harm over the incident and was due to face Southport court in Southport on Monday.
