A MAN’S face was left sliced up and covered in blood after an alleged glassing at a Gold Coast RSL.

Dominic Ryan, 54 from Carrara, says he was using a pokie machine at his local pub about 9.30pm on Friday when he was allegedly assaulted from behind by a man.

“I first saw this man two weeks ago and I must have looked at him the wrong way because he king hit me,” Mr Ryan said.

“I didn’t report that to the police.

“He came over to me last night and said ‘do you remember me?’. I said ‘nah mate’ and he said ‘I’m the guy who king hit you and I’m going to do it again’.

“I hopped up to move my chair back and be ready this time and as I turned around he glassed me.”

Queensland Police confirmed the incident.

They alleged there was a verbal interaction between two men.

It’s alleged a 35-year-old from Nerang assaulted the man before smashing a glass on the victims cheek.

The offender then allegedly left the premises before being found at a nearby residence.

Police charged the man with one count of bodily harm and one count of wounding.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates court on October 30.

Mr Ryan was taken to hospital where he was given eight stitches to his left of his face.

He says he was released about 2.30am this morning and is in a lot of pain.

“The detectives came to Robina Hospital and took photos of me,” he said.

“On my left hand side, where he hit me with the glass, I have eight stitches in my cheek.

“He got me above the eye, my eye is starting to go black. I’ve got cuts on my head.

“All I remember was a glass coming straight at me. I went down and when I got back up he had taken off. He ran out like a bat out of hell.”

Mr Ryan says he will be seeking legal advice.
