A GOLD Coast carer who grabbed a police officer’s arm while a mate was being arrested has copped a $750 fine.
Brett Courtney Davies appeared in Southport Magistrates Court yesterday charged with assaulting a police officer and obstructing a police officer.
When asked how he pleaded, Davies replied: “Let’s just go guilty”.
Police prosecutor Senior Sergeant Nick Wang said police were conducted patrols in Surfers Paradise on March 21 and were attempting to arrest a man.
Davies was nearby and tried to intervene, grabbing the police officers arm.
He said when police told Davies to get back, the Surfers Paradise man fell into a fighting stance.

Davies, who represented himself in court, said he did not realise you could not touch a police officer.
He, who cares for his mother, said he was trying to get his friend’s daughter out of the way while the other man was being arrested.
Magistrate Kay Philipson fined Davies $750.
