Trams resume after head on collision with a van south of Surfers Paradise.

A van has collided with a light rail tram South of Surfers Paradise causing delays across the network.

Investigations are under way after a collision between a tram and a vehicle, which caused delays to the city’s light rail network.

Services were suspended between Broadbeach South and Cavill Ave stations just after 11am on Thursday after the van and tram crashed near Surfers Paradise.

No one was injured from the incident.

The force of the impact shattered the front windows of the tram and tore a hole in it’s carriage. The vehicle involved, a white van, was also damaged.

Replacement buses were arranged while emergency services cleared the accident scene and removed debris. Services resumed shortly before lunchtime.

There were residual delays up to 15 minutes. They had cleared just after 1pm.

The Queensland Police Service is investigating the cause of the crash.
