Three teenagers have been charged with an alleged brutal assault in Surfers Paradise that left another girl in hospital.
Police allege the 16-year-old girl was set upon by a group of youths on Cavill Ave just before 8pm on Saturday.
Footage of the alleged assault has been circulated widely on social media in the following days, depicting what police described on Monday as a confronting and seemingly unprovoked attack.
The 16-year-old girl was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with non life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
Two Southport girls, aged 16 and 17, have been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm while intoxicated and affray in a public place while intoxicated.
A 16-year-old Coomera boy has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and affray.
All three are due to appear in Southport Childrens Court on April 17.
Any witnesses or anyone with relevant information is urged to contact police.
Investigations by the Gold Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit with the assistance of Taskforce Guardian and Digital Intelligence and Community Engagement are ongoing.
