A worker at a North Tamborine business has been left shaken after being caught up in an alleged attempted robbery on Tuesday.

Two offenders stormed the post office on Main Street at around 4am, breaking open a door to gain entry to the premises.

The pair were disturbed by the worker, who had arrived to begin setting up for the day.

It is alleged the staff member was threatened by the intruders before they ran off on foot.

Forensics attended the business on Tuesday to gather evidence.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswomen didn’t confirm whether any items were taken during the armed robbery but said no weapon was sighted.

The staff member was not physically injured during the ordeal.

It’s another blow for the small community, which was left with catastrophic damage in the wake of the Christmas Day storm and New Year’s Day floods.

Thousands of homes were plunged into darkness for weeks after cyclonic winds brought down power poles and kilometres of lines.

The electricity grid had to be rebuilt by an army of Energex workers with residents finally reconnected on Sunday.
