A 15-year-old boy was on Monday undergoing emergency surgery after being seriously injured when he was stabbed in the leg at a home on the Gold Coast, with another boy arrested at the scene.
Police were called to the house in a quiet Robina street just after 11am on Monday to reports the boy had been injured.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said a second 15-year-old boy had been taken into custody, while the injured teen was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“Police are investigating after a teenager sustained a serious wound at Robina,” the spokesperson said.
“Around 11.05am police were called to a residence after reports a 15-year-old boy had been stabbed.
“Emergency services provided treatment to the boy on scene before he was transported to hospital where he is undergoing surgery.
“Another 15-year-old boy has been taken into custody and is assisting police with their investigation.
“Early investigations indicate the boys are known to each other.
“A crime scene has been declared.”
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the teen who was stabbed had suffered a life-threatening injury.
“Paramedics treated a male in his teens with a significant leg wound,” the spokesperson said.
“He was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a life-threatening condition.”
Forensics officers were seen collecting evidence at the house on Monday while police investigations continued.
Neighbours spoken to by the Bulletin said there had never previously been a serious incident on the normally quiet street.
