Four teens have been charged after they crashed an allegedly stolen car three hours after they were chased by police up the M1.
Emergency services were called to a two-car crash on the Gold Coast Highway in Burleigh Heads around 4pm on Thursday.
Police allege one of the cars involved was a stolen BMW which had four teen boys, aged 15 and 16 inside.
Paramedics assessed a woman who in the other car - a Mazda Hatchback - and took her to hospital in a stable condition.
Officers arrived on scene shortly after the crash and arrested the four boys.
A Gold Coast police spokesman said the BMW was allegedly stolen from an address in Benowa around 12pm on Thursday.
A 15-year-old boy was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and three counts of stealing.
Both boys are expected to appear before Southport Childrens Court on June 14.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
A 15-year-old boy was facing two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and driving without a licence.
Both boys are expected to appear before Southport Magisrates Court on June 19.
The Bulletin understands around 1pm on Thursday police first intercepted the allegedly stolen BMW and Grey Toyota Kluger in Benowa.
Officers followed the cars onto the M1 and tracked them to Eight Mile Plains near Logan before they turned back towards the Gold Coast.
They were spotted heading southbound on the Pacific Motorway near Wet and Wild about 2.30pm.
