Two men have been hospitalised and several others injured in an alleged violent clash between two groups on a suburban Gold Coast street.
Emergency services responded to the reported disturbance in Upper Coomera at about 7.45pm on Sunday evening.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “A male patient in his 20s suffered a puncture wound to the wrist and head injuries. A second patient, also a male in his 20s, sustained head, facial and groin injuries.”
Both men were transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in stable conditions for further treatment. Paramedics also assessed a woman in her 40s for head, neck and chest injuries – she declined transport to hospital. In total, six people sustained injuries.
A Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokeswoman said the alleged altercation was domestic violence related, and initial investigations suggest it involved two groups of individuals who were known to each other.
Police allege a front door was damaged and a window shattered at the property during the fracas. A neighbour, who asked to not to be identified due to safety concerns, told The Bulletin they heard screaming and a loud argument followed by what they believe was the sound of glass shattering.
At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the domestic violence incident remain under investigation. Police are continuing their inquiries to determine what occurred and any potential charges that may be laid.
