He was fined $1653 and will lose eight demerit points.

In a clip released by police, the man was asked if he had any excuse for travelling that fast.

The man’s answer is not audible.

“Mate, you can’t do that,” the police officer tells him.

Police also released clips of people speeding in other parts of the state including:

* A 28-year-old Harlaxton man doing 168km/hr in a 100km/h zone at Grantham

* A 54-year-old Roma man doing 144km/h in a 100km/h on the Warrego Hwy at Brigalow.

Police are in the midst of a road safety crackdown across the state for the Easter school holidays in an effort to keep the road toll low.

Gold Coast Police Acting Superintendent Scott Knowles said: “It’s about slowing down, taking care – just be aware of your surroundings.

“Understand we will have a lot more police out there this Easter period and we will be targeting those that aren’t wearing their seatbelts, that are exceeding the speed limit, that are using their electronic devices inside the vehicles.”

Three lives have already been lost on Queensland roads so far this year.
