A car has allegedly driven dangerously and at high speed on the M1 overnight sparking a police pursuit across the Gold Coast.

A Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman said the Polair helicopter began tracking the vehicle on the Pacific Motorway just after 9pm on Thursday after reports it was travelling at excessive speed.

Checks on the vehicle’s registration revealed it was wanted over a number of alleged theft-related offences.

It’s understood the pursuit came to an end near Molendinar – where several police units, including the dog squad, surrounded the area.

The QPS spokesman said at least one person was in custody.
