The son of bikie boss Nick ‘the Knife’ Forbes has been accused of involvement in the same drug trafficking operation as his father.

Police allege Mongols member Haydn Forbes trafficked drugs between March 30 and June 8, 2021.

Forbes junior was also charged with five counts of supplying the drug ice on April 5, April 22 and April 28, May 17 and June 2 in 2021.

His matters were heard in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.

His lawyer Michael Gatenby asked for the matters to be adjourned to December 20 to meet up with Forbes’ father’s case.

The allegations relate to the same alleged drug run his father faced court for last month.

Both men deny the charges.

Police allege the pair were caught through AN0M encrypted devices, which had been targeted as a part of an international police operation.

In Nick Forbes’ bail hearing last month, prosecutor Gavin Reece told the court: “In that time it is alleged this defendant has been key in organising, directing and counselling other members of his organised gang, including his son, in dealing drugs.”

Nick Forbes is the national president of the Mongols gang and was charged with trafficking dangerous drugs, also between March 30 and June 8.

The elder Forbes was granted bail on strict conditions and the magistrate noted: “He would have more contact with people if he doesn’t get bail and he is in custody.”

Court documents tendered in Nick Forbes case claimed they had text messages between the pair.

Allegations in the documents included that Forbes senior allegedly counselled other Mongols, including his son, in relation to supplying drugs and collecting cash to ensure control the bikie gangs’ Gold Coast drug distribution network

Both Forbes are contesting the charges.

Haydn Forbes did not appear as he is currently one of 10 men in custody accused of the shooting death of bikie Shane Bowden.
