A man accused of making a fake bomb threat at a Gold Coast gym has been committed to stand trial in a higher court.
Matthew Gordon Croudace represented himself when he appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
He is charged with one count of bomb hoax (falsely stating or informing a bomb is present) and two of breaching bail.
It is alleged the 47-year-old lied to a staff member at F45 Training Nerang about a bomb being planted on the premises on August 8 last year.
Prosecutor Sammi Dutschke handed up several witness statements and exhibits as part of the committal proceedings, including body-worn camera footage of Croudace speaking with police after the alleged bomb hoax.
Croudace told the court he would be seeking Legal Aid funding for representation in higher court proceedings.
He is prohibited from contacting anyone at the Nerang gym under his bail conditions.
Croudace’s case will be brought before the Southport District Court in the coming months.
His breach of bail charges were listed for mention on August 23.
