Notorious conman Peter Foster’s latest fraud case is on pause as his lawyers search for evidence interstate and overseas.

Foster appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where he is charged with several counts of fraud and related offences.

It is alleged the 60-year-old was involved in a multimillion-dollar Bitcoin scam on the Gold Coast between 2019 and 2020.

Foster was more recently charged in relation to historical allegations of fraud overseas.

Solicitor Cheonton Strickland, of Hannay Lawyers, told the court this week that they were awaiting material from New South Wales Police.

Mr Strickland said Foster’s regular lawyer, Chris Hannay, was overseas in Europe and would meet with a private investigator about alleged “police misconduct” in the coming days.

It was heard the prosecution were also still seeking bank records to corroborate other evidence, but would not be relying on anything provided by NSW Police.

Magistrate Jane Bentley adjourned Foster’s case to August 22.

Speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, Foster claimed there was “skulduggery” involved in his case.

“That’s simply what we need to get to the bottom of, and we will,” he said.

“Here we are, (and) we’ll keep fighting.”
