A man has been threatened and assaulted in his own home during a frightening robbery on the Northern Gold Coast overnight.
The victim, who is aged in his 30s, had only just arrived at his property on Windward Place in Calypso Bay around 7pm when he was set upon.
He entered the home and noticed his laptop lying on the floor in the living area and a flyscreen missing from one of the windows. As he walked closer to inspect the damage, he was grabbed from behind by the two men, who are believed to have had their faces covered.
They punched him in the head and took a gold chain from around his neck. He was then threatened to hand over more jewellery from inside the property, as well as cash and other electronics. The pair then ran off. The victim wasn’t seriously injured during the confrontation. After receiving the triple-0 call, a number of police swarmed Jacobs Well, including the dog squad. They were unable to find the pair.
The incident is being investigated by detectives from the Coomera Criminal Investigation Branch. Anyone with CCTV in the Calypso Bay and Jacobs Well area, in particular the vicinity of Catalina Parade, Harbour Boulevard and Moreton Drive are urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
Just last week in a similar incident a masked man stormed a Burleigh Heads home grabbing the elderly resident and threatening her. The 80-year-old victim was woken to the sound of the man smashing his way into her property on Skyline Terrace in the early hours of the morning. He grabbed the women and shook her violently demanding she hand over money. The woman was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital following the robbery and had scans and a number of tests. She sustained large bruises to her arms and legs and has been left with neck and back pain. The offender in that incident is also on the run.
